MSc in Health Promotion and Education

GENERAL

Since the academic year 2004-2005, the School of Medicine and the Dept. of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) have been operating the postgraduate program (M.Sc.) on Health Promotion and Education, in collaboration with the Dept. of Public and Community Health of the University of West Attica (UniWA). The program leads to a M.Sc. Degree in Health Promotion and Education.

The program focuses on the study of health determinants - physical, mental, and social - based on the socio-ecological model of health and the application of evidence-based interventions to improve the quality of life of all population groups, with the aim of reducing health inequalities. The educational curriculum includes training in epidemiology, research methodology, psychology, sociology, and pedagogy. The main objective of the M.Sc. program is to train young scientists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based health promotion and education programs and policies.

The M.Sc. program in Health Promotion and Education aims to address society’s needs for specialized scientists in areas that contribute to health promotion and education, both in Greece and abroad.
