Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to:
- Know the basic principles and values of community health promotion
- Understand different approaches to assessing community health needs in for different population groups.
- Be familiar with the methodology for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive community health promotion programs.
- Understand ethical issues in health promotion in the community.
- Comprehend basic policies and strategies for community health promotion programs.
- Conduct literature reviews and use evidence-based data for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive community health promotion programs.
Course Content

Through lectures and case studies, the course introduces students to the basic principles and values of health promotion in the community, as well as the methodology for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive community health promotion programs. It is comprised of the following units:
- Basic principles and values of health promotion in the community.
- Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion.
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Methodology for assessing health needs (quantitative and qualitative approaches).
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive community health promotion programs.
- Empowerment and community development.
- Ethical issues in health promotion in the community.
- Policies and strategies for community health promotion programs.
- Health Cities Network - Schools Health Promotion Network - Workplace Health Promotion Network.
- Literature search - Use of evidence-based data for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive community health promotion programs.
- Case studies.
